Pot Luck Dinner

Wern Jyn, I definitely have a good start to the week! Haha

So me and a few friends decided to do a pot luck dinner on the 26^th of February and it was so freaking fun! And the food itself was awesome! Who knew everybody were such great chefs?!! Especially my friend Ru Er, man her chicken dish was so damn awesome it reminded me of my mom’s cooking! Yes it was THAT good!!

It was just a simple dinner, with simple dishes as you can see at my FB album. It was the people that made it fun and enjoyable. The presence of the jokers helped a lot and towards the end of the evening, we played Murderer for almost 2hours and honestly, I’m still in the mood to play it! There were 7 of us and almost half were playing it for the first time and they enjoyed it a lot! We were practically grabbing each other, covering their eyes and locking their hands to prevent them from carrying out their game duties (i.e. Murderers wouldn’t have been able to kill etc etc).

It was so chaotic! Everybody was grabbing each other and shouting and yelling. LOL you know how noisy it can get when 6 girls get together in one room. I sort of felt sorry for our guy friend, Sze Hao who was there, he was kinda sesat as the only guy but still he was a really good sport and he played the role of the story teller. The whole grabbing thing started with Ru Er and I because we sat on the floor while the rest were on the bed. We moved after we swapped story tellers.

It was so loud, it was so chaotic but it was so MUCH FUN!!! After the whole thing was over, we even started to plan when to play it during our trip down south in May! Haha

I think this is the first time I’m doing this, so yea. Haha I’m introducing my bunch of close friends I’ve known since Foundation [except for one, I knew her last year during first year ey] :D

Time Machine Chapter 2: So Into You

The cheeky kid walked into class like every other morning and greeted any of her classmates who were earlier than her, even Jake. After that he made his way to his seat only to find the one behind him empty. He turned to his seatmate.

‘Morning, Fany. Where’s Sica?’ he cocked his head to one side.

‘Morning! Sica caught a cold so she’s not allowed to come to school for a while.’

The cheerful expression on Ty’s face fell a little but it wasn’t very noticeable.

‘Oh...hey, wanna go see her later?’ Ty beamed at the idea

‘After school? I can’t…I got flute lessons today…’ a disappointed Tiffany pouted.

‘We can always go again tomorrow..but I’m still going later’

Ty’s driver dropped him off at the Jung’s residence after school.

‘Oh? Tyler, what brings you here?’ Mrs Jung greeted the child with a warm smile.

‘Fany said Sica has a cold and I didn’t see her in school today…I miss her’ he looked down and mumbled softly the last part, but Mrs Jung caught it. ‘…so I’m here for a visit’ Ty played with his fingers while explaining to Mrs Jung.

Oh dear, isn’t this kid precious?! Haha

‘Jessica’s room is the first door on the left. Why don’t you go up first and I’ll come later’ Mrs Jung gave Ty a push and up the stairs the child went.

Knock knock knock

A soft ‘yes?’ was heard and Ty opened the door to see a little lump on the bed with a lot of tissue laying around on the bed stand. The lump sat up and a little head popped out from the blanket.

An ‘Oh? Tyler??’ and a sneeze followed. ‘You shouldn’t be here…you’ll get my germies…’

‘I don’t mind. I didn’t see you in school today..I miss you’

‘Jessi, let’s just sit down and think this through…when did is start? When did he start to avoid you?’

‘Tiff..you have me tied down to my chair..i don’t have much of a choice but to sit….’

In a desperate attempt to get her cousin to sit still and talk, Tiffany had used all her strength to pin the latter down on the chair and swiftly, used one of her scarves to tie Jessica to the chair.

‘Like I had other choices, Jess. Now, can we talk in peace?’ Tiffany sat cross legged on Jessica’s bed with her arms supporting her weight as she leaned back and cocked her head to the right.

Jessica simply looked at her, amused really, and Jessica was rarely amused. With a sigh, she planted her feet firmly on the ground and stood up as far as she could, given her situation, and was about to walk out the door. Tiffany saw it coming and quickly scrambled off the bed and pushed the chair down, hard.

‘TIFF!! IT HURTS!!’

‘Why can’t you just sit quietly and talk?!!’

‘Why can’t you leave me alone to pack?!!’

The two cousins were gritting their teeth and glaring at each other.

‘Why won’t you tell me why you want to leave?!!’

‘Why are you so nosy!!!!’

‘Because I am your cousin!! That’s why!!’

Jessica broke the staring contest first and sighed.

‘Fine…’

‘Excuse me?’

‘I’ll talk. Now please untie me’ but Tiffany didn’t budge ‘I’m serious. I. WILL. TALK. Untie me.’

Original Books Rant...LOL!!!

I don’t know why, but when it comes to books, if it’s not the original don’t even think about getting me to buy it (yes, guilty as charged for the photocopy Pengajian M’sia book I got last year). I’m not sure when this fussiness over original copies started but I think it’s a good thing ya?

By buying the original, you’re not showing off to others that you’re rich and you can afford it. No, you are simply stating that you’re against book piracy. But for my case, it’s simply because I cannot stand photocopied books. They’re such a turn off and it totally spoils my mood to read them (which explains why that book I got last year was barely touched).

I need lots of colour in my life, same goes for books. I need them in colour!! No colour, no interest. I sound like a little kid don’t I? *chuckles* I’m fine with that. Colours!!! Haha I cannot read a textbook with no colours in it. It’s so boring to see only black and white and highlighters does little to help honestly. Even back in secondary, textbooks were mostly coloured and reference books were rarely black and white.

Even my friends know that now *hehe* they’ll be like “Oh, Zhiying doesn’t buy photostated books.” And it’s a good thing I have some friends who are like me, people who prefer original over photocopied versions.

Support the authors, they worked hard to present the knowledge to us so it’s the least we can do.

Buy ORIGINAL textbooks!! :D

Cruising Along to my Fav Tunes

You know, this semester, I’m looking forward to Mondays a lot. Mainly because I’ll be all alone in my car on the way to class! I can see myself enjoying it a lot, even if it’s for that short 10 minute ride. I need some ‘me’ time in the car too ya know..all alone, chilling out to my favourite tunes and taking my own sweet time to get to class, no need to worry about any passengers or whatever.

You see, ever since I got my car two years ago (towards the end of Foundation year) I’ve been giving my friends rides. I mean, it’s not that I don’t like giving them rides but it’s also not that I like giving them rides. The feeling is just neutral ey. But having them in the car really does feel like a hindrance to my ‘me’ time.

I don’t listen to English pop music, I listen to Korean and Japanese pop, and recently Mando pop. None of my friends here are like me so if I turn those music on in the car while fetching them around, they might think ‘what song is this? O.o’ and I’ll probably be thinking ‘are they judging me through the songs I like? O.O’ so I avoid playing them songs when they’re around. I don’t even turn on the radio when I’m fetching them around.

Another reason is that I know it’s kinda sucky to be in a car, listening to songs you don’t know/never heard off so for the sake of my passengers, I don’t listen to the songs I like and just turn on the FM some times. And the thing I hate the most when I do turn on my music is this question ‘ew..why are you listening to their music?’ or ‘eee…why must it be her music?!’ But of course, sometimes I am too lazy to bother about them and their thoughts and I just turn the radio on. hehe

I’ve taken a liking to Rainie Yang’s music these few months (not bad you know..totally my kind of music) and I think not many people appreciate her music. Some of my friends dislike her to bits (which I don’t get why..) and it kinda feels like when I was just getting into Girls’ Generation years ago. It’s exactly the same. Whenever I say a song is nice and like it a lot, turns out many people hate the artist to bits. Sad ey? haha

Choi Sooyoung, in honour of your 21st birthday, I am dedicating this post to you. You never fail to amaze us with your silly antics, language skills, amazing MC-ing and also your awesome referee styles! XD

Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you a very Happy Birthday and also lots and lots of joy, happiness in your life. May you find your special someone soon and also be hale and hearty always.

You and your eight sisters are constantly on the move from country to country so I hope that you'll get lots of rest after this round of travelling is over.
