Movie Review/Summary/IMHO 5: Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect, these two words have been flooding my Twitter timeline for as long as I can remember in the past few weeks/months and I took the liberty of checking it out because if a very fussy unnie of mine says it’s awesome then it must be awesome! And I have to say, as soon as the movie started I was hooked. The movie was beyond brilliant. The cast, the songs, the choreography, everything was just perfect!

This movie is in my opinion that is to say from one of the character’s, a highly uptight Aubrey’s point of view, is about honour and redemption. She had to make up for the shame she has brought to her a capella group, The Barden Bellas, after her little ‘accident’ in the finals of their competition. In other words now that she’s a senior, she has to find a way to restore The Bellas former glory and win despite having the whole a capella world laughing at her accident the year before.

So that basically sums up the movie plot. Aubrey has to recruit a whole new group of girls and get them ready with 3 kickass songs to win the competition. Then you start throwing in other characters.

We have Chloe, the loyal best friend. We have Beca, the ‘alternative’ girl who Aubrey doesn’t like because Aubrey wants to stick to old traditions while Beca wants to do new arrangements to their set. Then we have Fat Amy, the most hilarious person I’ve ever seen in the movies.  Then there’s Lily, the ‘quiet’ Asian girl, Cynthia Rose, the badass butch chick and Stacie, the sexy vocalist who just loves banging.

The new group that Aubrey had recruited was in fact a bunch of misfits so I think you’ll know where this whole thing was going. The plot is fairly simple and predictable. From the very beginning of it, that is after Aubrey’s accident, you can already guess how it’s going to end.

This movie is a must see. Don’t go comparing it Glee or whatever musical movies/series out there. I might not watch Glee but I can say that Pitch Perfect is in its own league and should not be compared with any others in the same genre. It’s hilarious, the cast are perfect, the music is good and the chemistry between the cast members is just too good! Everything was just perfect for the movie!

Do whatever it takes to watch this. You will have no regrets seriously.
