reflect

Ladies and gentlemen, 2014 has left the building! And as much of a shitty year 2014 was, I somehow feel obligated to write a little something something about it. I mean, sure it wasn’t the best of years (for me) but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t all that bad? Was it? Hmm..

For starters, I started working as a permanent staff at the company I interned at. That’s something, right? It started off pretty ok and then everything changed when the kns joined the company. Things just sort of went downhill from there. She’s not exactly the most pleasant person either. I don’t care if it’s for work reasons or what. She’s not the most pleasant person to interact with. I wish her gone but I don’t think she’s going anywhere anytime soon because it doesn’t seem like our boss is hiring any new managers.

I graduated! That’s something, right? Like finally, I graduated. Chingoo was so beautiful that day. It was really refreshing to see her again and of course, all the other friends. But let’s get real, the focus was on her that day, everything else was just the background. Like we did it! We really did it! We graduated from uni! It was like us two all the way since we were in our first year. Pass or fail, everything ya know? We even failed the same papers and retook them together. That’s something! I wouldn’t have graduated if she wasn’t by my side. She took a picture of me while I was on stage, before my name was called. I never saw the picture. But I’m glad that she made the gesture. I was too far back, couldn’t take any good pictures when she walked out.

Other than their Mr. Mr., nothing good came out from Girls’ Generation this year, at least for me. With all that dating news and Jessica being kicked out, it’s amazing how the girls can still put on a show for us. I feel bad for them. They deserve a long break after what had happened in 2014.

I think it’s safe to say that my 2014 was saved by a few stuff like, for example, Taylor Swift. The RED Tour was absolutely spectacular and she basically took over the world with 1989. Want to know the definition of world domination? Allow me to direct you to Taylor Swift. That girl is the epitome of world domination. Her 1989 album is pure genius and if you still haven’t checked out the whole thing yet? What are you waiting for man? Good songs, catchy tunes, what more reasons do you need?

My 2014 was also saved by the queer. Queer shows like Faking It, Orange is the New Black and last but not least, Carmilla, saved my 2014. They are so wonderfully hilarious that you really don’t see the “queer” part of it as weird or whatever. Those shows are so well written and it grips you to your seat as you binge watch the entire season. There really is no better way to spend the weekend than to sit back, relax and watch them, especially Carmilla. I don’t know about you guys but that is one well-made vampire story. Way better than that sparkly twerp. Good acting, good script, gorgeous looking cast. Highly recommended.

To finish off the year, my one and only Taiwanese idol, Rainie Yang released her newest album, A Tale of Two Rainie, in December and it is beautiful. Jam packed with mid-tempo and ballads, it’s becoming one of my fav albums of hers. And she has a new drama too! I’ve been looking around like crazy for a decent quality download but no luck. Not much luck in looking for the dvd either. Much sads. Such why. And her new movie is out! Can you imagine that! She’s in a movie! She hasn’t been in a movie since…Spider Lilies..and that was like..ancient history by now lols.

Last but not least, my 2014 was saved by Korra. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Korra, she is the Avatar, master of all four elements. Aang’s successor. We were given 2 seasons this year instead of the usual one season and the almost-a-year wait for the next (no thanks to the network being an ass) but no complains here. The series was basically the second half of my childhood and while I was happy and excited for the finale, I was also sad because the Avatar series has ended.

No more Korra and the new Team Avatar. But one thing that made the finale less sad for me was that…/drumroll please!/ Korra and Asami got together! Now how about that aye?! Talk about queer representation in a kids cartoon! I was really happy about that. And it’s not just because that I’ve been shipping the two of them since season 1 but also because that it shows progress in our world today! People are generally starting to be more and more accepting of the lgbtq community and that is awesome because they’re real people, too, ya know! With valid feelings and opinions and it’s so great to see it being represented in a show as popular as The Legend of Korra. And I hope this momentum that is going keeps going in 2015 and we’ll get to see more and more of these representations in the media!

There are a few things I am looking forward to in the media for 2015:

i.                     Pitch Perfect 2
ii.                   Orange is the New Black season 3
iii.                  Carmilla season 2
iv.                 Faking It season 2B

Here’s to 2015!
