With One Eye Closed

This is so not good!!

A brunette thought to herself as she struggled to keep her eyes open during class.

It’s only been like what, 30minutes? Isn’t it a bit too fast to be feeling sleepy?

A yawn escaped and she rubbed her watery and tired eyes.

It was her 1st week back in campus, the new semester just started and the group of friends was reunited after a 2week break. They took their seat at what had become their usual seats in any class, the 3rd or 4th row in the hall.

The lecturer had begun the introductions to the subject and already started with the first lesson. With each passing slide, the brunette found it increasingly difficult to keep awake and her hungry stomach was not helping either.

It didn’t occur to her that she just had breakfast about an hour and a half ago, neither did the fact that she had only sat in the hall for less than 40minutes. Perhaps it did but it didn’t bother her. All she knew that, the class was a big bore and that she was hungry.

This is not good…

She leaned forward from her seat and rested her chin on her left palm while her right hand was holding her pen which was already making doodles on her notes.

‘Doodling again?!’ her friend whispered.

She smiled and replied ‘I can’t help it.’ then she went back to doodling.

After doodling, she turned her head from side to side, looking at her friends sitting further away. Some were listening tentatively to the lecturer, some not paying attention and some just like herself, struggling to keep awake.

Letting out a sigh, she turned back to the front, looking at the slide being projected on the screen. To be honest, it barely interests her. Though it can be said that nothing they learnt interested her. She found the entire class an utter boredom which she had to endure for the remaining 13weeks of the semester, something which she had done again and again throughout her schooling life.

Huffing in frustration of being stuck in a boring class, she turned back to her friend with droopy eyes.

‘How can you be yawning and feeling sleepy when the lecturer is so strict and fierce?’ she questioned in disbelief.

She merely shrugged and continued to stare blankly at the slides, trying to absorb whatever the lecturer was babbling about and hopefully understood something before the class ended.

My life, thank you very much.
