my funny friend and me - Sting

I have this friend who’s the typical happy-go-lucky character in every high school story and the one who’s always smiling in the face of adversity. She takes things one at a time and almost never cracks under pressure. She’s the kind of person who’s, more often than not, getting picked on by others because she almost never retorts whatever that others throw at her.

Work wise, she’s not to say the most well organized person you’ll ever meet. She’s that bit lazy and also that bit clumsy so you can’t really expect her to give you her all in any given piece of work. She almost never does. It’s rare for us to see her doing something seriously, which is also one of the reasons why nobody takes her seriously. To us, she’s such a joker that we’ll think she’s joking when she’s being dead serious.

She hates the fact that others seem to see her as somebody that’s dependable because in reality, she isn’t. She wants to depend on others just as much as the next guy but it rarely happens; which is why she sort of hates to be leaders for anything. She knows she’s not the most dependable person on earth and neither is she a very well organized one and she doesn’t want to cause trouble to us if she were to be a bad leader.

The reason why she doesn’t like to lead is because she doesn’t want to disappoint us. To her, seeing our disappointed faces is a nightmare. She’s a forgiving person but she’s not sure about the rest of us. Will we forgive her for her mistakes and for what she had lacked in leading us? Of course we will but she doesn’t believe us.

Everybody has this sort of friend, don’t we? It’s just the matter of how we adjust to them and how they adjust to us that makes the difference between a long lasting friendship and also one that is a temporary as everything else on this earth.

Extermination - The Simple and Environmental-Friendly Guide

Got little brown insects terrorizing your room? No worries, as an expert in exterminating them roaches, I’m going to give you guys a simple and totally practical method to end their miserable life once and for all with minimal effort.

First, to exterminate your pest, you would need only 1 thing; newspaper. Select your daily newspaper which when rolled up fits perfectly in your grip. Make sure that it isn’t too thick of a roll and neither too thin. If it’s too thick, it won’t be a firm grip and the newspaper might just fly out of your hand when you’re preparing for a swing. If it’s too thin, the impact wouldn’t be strong enough to kill your unwanted visitor.

Now for the simple steps to exterminate your everyday roach:

1. When a roach is within the area of your room, it’s pretty noticeable even if you can’t see it yet because of the smell that it emits. The strong scent is a warning for you to get your newspaper ready for battle.

2. Have your newspaper on standby because once it enters your sight, it is your signal to start your hunt.

3. Roaches are pretty quick things so it’s always good to have the element of surprise on your side. Try to coax the thing out into the open by using a broom, a badminton racquet or a stick; anything long enough that can be used as an extension of your arm.

4. If the roach ever gets behind of a piece of furniture, for example your cupboard, remove anything near it to create enough space for you to swing you arm and whack it. After that, slowly, and I do mean very slowly, push the cupboard out from its original position to reveal the hidden roach. Do this very slowly because any abrupt movement will cause the insect to scurry away and you’ll have to begin your hunt again.

5. Once in sight, make sure to not startle them and make them go back into hiding again. Be cautious with your movements and be as soundless as possible. Once you have a good view of the creature and also enough space for a full swing, take your aim.

6. Be sure to have a few quick test aims before the actually swat, like how golfers don’t hit the golf ball on the first swing. This will help you increase your accuracy as you’ll get a feel of hitting that exact spot before having to hit it for real. Please execute this step as quick as possible.

7. Once that is done, take a deep breath and with all your might, swing your arm and hit that insect. If you succeed on your first attempt, congratulations but if you missed, quickly collect your weapon and hit it again before it goes back into hiding.

8. Repeat steps 3 to 7 until insect is killed.

9. Once killed, if you’re too squeamish to pick it up using the newspaper with your hands, get the broom and the dustpan and sweep it up. in the hitting process, you might notice some of its…juices ..might have splashed all over the floor. It really stinks so clean it up properly.

So this is Zhi’s guide to killing your everyday roach. All the best!

Close

So close..so close and yet so far..

I never really thought that particular line would apply in my little life, and yet a few weeks ago it just did. Heck, it still is going on.

Do you know how it feels to have something that you really love be so close to you but it’s almost impossible to reach it? You will always remember that second, that moment when your heart suddenly took a dive into a bottomless pit and your face immediately lost its colour. That moment when your dreams and your heart shattered into so many pieces that it was impossible to fix, it stays in your mind.

Honestly, I thought getting over it would be easy but seeing others who’s unintentionally rubbing it in my face is making it hell-ish. I guess this is my life as a citizen of this country.

i love you and it's so sad that you will never know

Sleeping Habits - Waking Up A Zhi, An Introduction

Previously, I’ve already posted on how a Zhi sleeps. So now in this post we will find out how a Zhi usually wakes up:

1. On a typical weekday, Zhi wakes up pretty easily; bolting up as soon as the alarm goes off and her hand will be feeling about the table for her phone to off the alarm. She may grumble a bit at first but it’s as far as it gets. She rarely falls back asleep and usually gets up right away after sitting upright for a while to shake the sleep away.

2. When a Zhi is overworked or too tired, she usually won’t hear the alarm at all. It’ll be as if she never set the alarm and it never rang. Her eyes would usually open wide abruptly and she sits up just as quickly and first thing she grabs it the clock and checks the time.

3. When waking up a Zhi don’t be mad if she just waves her hand to shoo you out from her room, it is very normal. She hears you calling her, she just doesn’t want to sit up and tell you ‘ok’. So she just takes her hand out from under the blankets and shoo you away. And also if you ever peek into her room after you get shooed, don’t be surprised if you find her still curled up underneath her blankets. It’s also very normal. She’ll probably sleep for a few more minutes before reluctantly getting up and proceed to wash up.

4. If you have seen how her mother wakes her up, you would know that her mother usually grabs her right big toe to lift the leg and gives it a shake saying ‘time to wake up, you’re going to be late’ to which Zhi just shakes off the hand and mumbles an incomprehendable (lol got such a word?) ‘en na…’ proceeded by the hand shooing

5. When Zhi was still in school, she had her alarm clock wake her up (she offs it and fall back asleep, then her mother comes tug her leg and she wakes up). The clock is situated on her right so every morning when it rings, she turns her body to the right and whacks the clock hard to off the alarm and then turns back to her previous position to continue her snooze till her mother comes to wake her up.

6. Zhi’s eyes automatically start to open when it has passed a certain time, for example: if she had set her alarm to ring at 9am, her eyes would start to open around 8.30am. She knows that the alarm hasn’t rang yet so she opens only her left eye (sometimes the right) and turns her head upwards to check the time (the alarm clock is behind her head on the table) and then quickly falls back to sleep before she gets too awake. She’ll wake up when the alarm rings later on.

Jjajjang~!

so this is how I usually wake up =] how do you guys wake up??

3D...or not???

I went to watch my first 3D movie today!! Disney’s The Lion King in 3D!!! Can you imagine how hyped up I was about it when I saw it in the newspaper?! And to imagine a little town like my hometown has 3D movies!!!!

So overall it wasn’t that 3D. The characters etc didn’t ‘pop out’ as much from the screen as those typical 3D movies and it wasn’t very obvious that it was a 3D version even with those glasses on. And I could’ve sworn that my nose got flatter after the show cause the glasses were so big and heavy they were pressing and sliding off my already flat nose.

You know, I never thought that I would have the chance to watch a classic on the big screen in my lifetime because Classics are so old and no cinema plays movies that are almost 50 years old. So I’m very thankful that Disney made this 3D version. With this version, I was able to watch it in a theater hall, with surround sound system and a super big screen! I felt like a little kid again.

And I never noticed how sad Mufasa’s death scene was. I admit, I tear up a bit when little Simba was tugging his ear calling him to wake up. and I never noticed that Mufasa is really handsome for a lion! (major LOL-ness) I mean, don’t you guys think so? Deep voice, brave and righteous, don’t you guys think Mufasa is so cool?? Haha

You know, it might have been a waste of money but to me it was worth it. I totally wouldn’t mind if Disney 3D-nise all their Classics. I would totally go for each movie! It’s the perfect excuse to watch those Classics again!! so who’s with me?!!

^ best shot of Mufasa in the movie! LOL fangirl-ing over a lion..haha
i YT-ed the video and one comment totally made me LOL
"real men cry when Mufasa dies"
which is pretty true, at least in my opinion

That's a wrap!

The new semester has arrived and it has begun! I started the week by changing my timetable to retake the subject that I failed last semester and because of that I have to drop 2 other subjects so that Costing would fit in without clashing with the others.

At first I did feel a bit embarrassed in letting people know that I dropped those subjects to retake Costing. It didn’t really feel good but I’m over it because I realized that there were many others just like me and there is no use in hiding it. So the best thing to do is to tell the others with a smile on your face, to let them know that you have come to terms with the failure and ready to move on.

This week has been a good week. I registered for the parking sticker ballot last week and I got picked! Out of who knows how many hundred that applied, I’m one out of the lucky portion that got picked by the system. The system works on a lucky draw basis. We are given a number upon registration and the system randomly picks out a certain amount and the results are posted in the intranet. I can park within campus ground this semester!! yahoo!!!!

Then on Tuesday night (11pm to be precise) the time I have been waiting for since last year!! Girls’ Generation Day!!! The day they release their much anticipated 3rd full album The Boys after being away on tour since their last release Hoot September last year. Their 3rd album has been gathering a lot of attention prior its release because the title track, The Boys, is produced by Teddy Riley (Google him, I’m a bit too lazy to explain). The music videos, yes videos, were released on Youtube a little after 12AM KST (Korean Standard Time) in Korean and English. Yes, in English! *screams with joy* The album totally blew me away and I totally did not regret sleeping late to listen to the whole album that night.

My class finishes at 11am on Fridays so me and my butt was back in Sitiawan by 2pm. Today (21.10.11) is the Girls’ first performance of The Boys on TV and I’m so happy to be able to watch it on KBS at home instead of streaming it online with shitty internet speed. Though I would’ve preferred being home alone while watching Music Bank but apparently my dad has a knack of disturbing my MuBank watching sessions especially when the girls are up. but who cares!! Totally fangirled in front of him and the TV, fan chanting while the girls were performing and IT WAS AWESOME!

Haha that pretty much sums up my week =]

Back in the days..

when my granddad passed 10years ago, the house he lived in was sold about a year later because i was making a big fuss on not selling the house. when it got sold, everything inside was loaded onto a truck from Leuk Ing Chai furniture shop and brought to my house. i'm telling you, i got the shock of my life when i came home one day and saw the house filled with stuff from my granddad's house.
old cupboards, dishes, cutlery, blankets, mattresses etc.

so some of the 'highlights' of the stuff are the antiques.

1. the old charcoal iron

2. that thing that they used to measure rice back in WW2, i think in Malay its called gantang or something like that

3. the grinding stone used to grind flour and also a mortar (though i hardly think that's an antique but since its in the picture..why not? haha)

4. an old oil lamp

and just because i think this picture is kinda (emphasis on kinda) pretty, why not just post it..LOL

so, have you guys seen all these before?? :D

Tadaa~!

Jjang~!

Beautiful isn’t it? I can say that this has to be one of the highlights of my academic life! Well, I wouldn’t say I didn’t deserve it, yet I won’t say that I deserved it because who knows, maybe I do and maybe I don’t.

I’m not upset or anything, seriously I’m not. I actually thought that I’d be more upset that I currently am. But the thing is, I don’t know whether is it that I’m numb from the shock and not feel a thing or that I have already accepted my fate as I stepped out of the exam hall few weeks back.

But yes, I’m fine. No worries right?

'BR' 4: The Power Of Six

Title : The Power of Six

Author : Pittacus Lore

The sequel to the movie that had my classmates swoon over the actors and actresses, I Am Number Four, is The Power of Six. This book focuses, or half focuses, on number Seven/Marina and her days in Santa Teresa convent in Spain. The other focus of the book is back to Number Four, Sam and Number Six and not forgetting their ‘dog’ Bernie Kosar/Hadley.

The book starts off with Marina’s point of view (POV) and it centers on her frustration on not being able to leave the convent/orphanage and her guardian has seem to lost her grip on the reality that they are being hunted etc and has succumbed to the routine life of the convent. With her Legacies (powers) developing and no means of training from her guardian, Marina’s powers grew and she somehow managed to control them and also use them. Marina has the power of healing and also breathing underwater. What a coincidence seeing how the name marina is associated with the sea. In the convent, a new girl of 7years old appears as a new orphan taken in by the convent befriends Marina, her name is Ella. The two became a team, two best friends. Of course, after you find out what/who Ella actually is, she’s not that little anymore. Eventually, Santa Teresa was attacked and Number Six showed up to help them fight off them bad aliens.

The book alternates between POVs and the readers will notice that the font has changed and also the setting. The pronoun of ‘I’ now belongs to another person, one who I have been dreading, Number Four. He and his two friends are now on the run from the Government since they found counterfeit documents in Four’s previous home and now he and his late guardian are on top of the Most Wanted list in USA, for being thought as terrorists. The quartet (dog included) hop from city to city before finally going back to Paradise, Ohio to Sam’s house to retrieve something in his backyard which was left by Sam’s father. There, lover boy Number Four went to meet up with Sarah and eventually got his sorry ass arrested because apparently, his love Sarah was texting the FBI during their meeting. And of course Number Six busted him and Sam out.

Summary aside, I have to say, Number Four is still as boring as ever and I actually skipped his big fight scene at the end of the book and jumped to Marina’s fight scene seeing how his is always so damn boring even with the addition of a new Number Nine. I’d rather have the whole book talk about Marina than the current state of it.

Though I have to say, alternating between POVs is a very smart move by the author because he always leaves some cliffhangers before jumping to another person’s POV. It can be frustrating but being as impatient as I am, I just skip the next POV and look for where the font starts again and read from there. By doing so, the author is able to keep us glued to the book because of suspense. I for one, fell for this trick.

Even though I like this book, but I still don’t like Number Four because he is so damn boring!!! Like omg..I have never read about anyone so boring before! It was such a bore reading his POVs and the only part I liked was when he got arrested. It served him right for not listening to Six and Sam.

I won't be surprised if this book ends up being another long series like the Harry Porter series because the ending of this book was pretty hanging, if you get what I mean

Sleeping Habits - A Brief Introduction to How a Zhi Sleeps

I’m sure every single person out there has their own sleeping habits so I was thinking ‘ah what the heck; just write it out’ seeing how I’m so free and this helps in killing time before going to bed. So below are the sleeping habits that I am aware of:

1. I sleep with both my arms by my head, the right forearm will be on the pillow covering my eyes while the left arm will be rested on the bed. My mom had a good laugh while waking me up one day cause she said I look like I’m surrendering.

2. I sleep flat on my back and most of the time, I wake up in the same position that I feel asleep in.

3. No blanket, no good sleep, which I don’t know why. I guess the blanket gives me some sense of security when I was a kid (being scared of monsters in the dark and all…) so now I find it almost impossible to sleep without it; unless the weather is too freaking hot.

4. My feet stick out from under the blanket to ‘balance the temperature’ because if its tucked under it, it’ll be too hot and if I don’t use the blanket at all, my legs will feel cold. So I just leave them sticking out like that.

5. When I was a kid (around 7years old) there was this cartoon show called Ghostbusters. I’m sure all of you remember right? so I watched it during the day and I get spooked out at night when I’m alone in the dark bedroom cause I’m afraid of them ghost coming to get me. Because of that I slept with my left arm hugging the bolster and the right arm hugging a pillow which also covers my eyes.

6. And also I was too scared that anything is going to get me from the floor, my limbs never dangle from the bed’s edge. I’m scared that something will come and grab them and drag me off to who-knows where so yea, arms and legs never leave the bed’s edge! Haha

7. On cold days, I wrap myself with the blanket till I look like some mummy as the pillow will be covering my eyes, leaving my nose and mouth exposed, the hands will be holding onto the blanket’s edge slightly below my chin and somehow I’ll manage to roll the blanket in a way that it wraps around my body like the bandages on the mummy.

8. I sleepwalked when I was around the age of 7 to 10. It only happens during the holidays when I got too hyper playing all day non-stop. I even sleepwalked around my grandmother’s house!

9. I don’t usually snore, but I do if I’m really tired. Nisha once said I was the loudest when we went to Genting for a trip back in 2008.

10. I don’t kung fu either. I don’t think I have the habit of kicking anybody while I’m sleeping, at least not that I’m aware of. Hehe

Jjajjang~! These are my sleeping habits =] I’m not sure whether if sleep talk but I’m afraid to find out because who knows what is going to come out from my mouth in my sleep!!

so these are mine, so what's yours? care to share? hehe

and..lol please ignore the title, i ran out of ideas..haha

'Book Review' 3: The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud

Title : The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud

Author : Ben Sherwood

The book and the movie are quite similar to each other but like all book-turned-movie, there are differences. In this case, I would prefer the movie over the book because number1, the death of Sam is much more emotional than it is written, 2 Zac Efron looks really good there (must be the haircut, I didn’t really like his HSM hair), 3 you get to see how is it like sailing.

The book is written in the third person’s view, something of my liking. It tells a story of a boy who cause the death of his younger brother and his own, but for some miraculous reasons, he lived and was graced with a gift to see the dead/spirits. He then spends the next decade or so working in the cemetery where his brother was buried. Every day at twilight he will drive into the woods nearby and play catch with his dead brother’s ghost. Creepy? It’s quite heartwarming really.

But one thing I don’t like about this book is that some parts can be quite draggy and some just don’t make sense at all (but hey, it’s a book so what the heck right?). example: I’ll leave it to you to judge when you read it. I guess draggy parts are in almost every single book out there, there’s just no escaping them.

Final verdict? Yes it’s a good read. To be honest, the only reason I bought the book was to kill time. I was stuck in the airport for 6hours when I got back from HK and I managed to finish almost 4/5 of the book in that few hours. Even my mom was surprised. Still, it is a good read.

1.5weeks

A week and a half into the holidays and what was I up to? Let’s see:

1. I was on a Charmed marathon up till last week (season4, episode 12) which means I have another 4more seasons to go before I finish the series but due to some foreseen circumstances *coughPrue’sdeathcough* I’ve decided to put it on hold for a while since I cannot adjust to her absence and also the presence of a new character *coughfindherabitannoyingcough*

2. My friend linked me to this site where you can watch all the anime you want and I am loving it! If it weren’t for the link, I would’ve never knew that Natsume Yuujinchou had a third season!! I finished 13 episodes in 2days. it’s a really nice show of supernatural genre. It’s about this boy, Natsume, who can see spirits/ghosts etc and has inherited a book filled with their names (which you can use to summon them) from his grandmother. It’ll be too long if I were to summarise the whole show so I would recommend you check it out. It’s a very heartwarming show.

3. I got back my part time job as a picture saver! Haha it’s something I do every time after events that the girls have. At the start of last week, there was this auction event that the girls attended and pictures just came flooding non-stop for the whole freaking week! Others have saved up to 2000 pictures but I was being conservative so I only have 200 or so (from one event only!! O.O). from then on, events kept rolling and pictures kept flooding =] not that I’m complaining.

4. Jogging!! Every weekday evening since last Monday. I met Kristie there twice last week and we chatted for a bit, she did most of the talking but I’m fine with it. I’m used to it (in a good way) because I had always let her talk while I listened in Kampar. Anyway, so yes, every weekday evening about 6-7pm, I will be in that field walking and occasionally jogging. Usually I’ll walk the first round then jog the next, but I usually never finish the whole round, only ¼. It is surprisingly fun and satisfying to walk/jog alone.

5. I bought The Power of 6, which is the sequel to the bore that is called I Am Number 4. I’m about 1/3 into the book and honestly, it is so much better than the first book and I hope it does not disappoint.

6. I wonder if I should be stating this here but since I’ve already done it on Twitter, why not. Haha after coming back from HK, my feet sole was very, very dry up to the point that I can just slide across the tiled floor. Then some time during my final exam period, the skin started to peel (you have no idea how long have I waited for them to peel because once my sole skin gets really dry, it peels) and now, two weeks later, it’s still peeling and I think it’s not going to stop until the whole sole comes off. The left foot is already done, the right foot doesn’t look like it’s going to peel completely.

7. Aside from being a picture saver, I also got the unwanted job of being my sister’s tutor. Oh the frustration that arises from being her tutor. I shall not say more about how is it like tutoring her. I get so frustrated up to the point that I just wanna cry and let it all out, but obviously I cannot. So to cheer myself up (since nobody in this house look like they’re going to cheer me up, might as well do it myself) I watch some of my favourite videos of the girls and I dance along to their songs (Hoot, RDR, Gee etc) to cheer myself up and that girl still has the nerve to laugh at me while I’m watching them. I tell you, she has no heart.

8. Yesterday’s was by far the worst and I silently thank the beloved stupid dork for being her usual dorky self and getting it caught on camera. You’d be amaze at how fast Kim Taeyeon can put a silly smile on my face with her silly antics. The silly girl knows practically all the girl group songs and dances as she dance along in her seat with Seohyun. Check it out =] I totally laughed when ‘Ma Boy’ came up
