*pardon the errors, I don't have a Beta reader*
High school past quickly and before I knew it, we had already graduated! The memories of high school will forever be cherished as I move on to make new ones with new found friends.
Theo had been so sweet throughout the years and I’m really happy to be with him but somehow, I don’t know how, I’m slowly losing it. I’m not sure if he felt it but I definitely did. Conversations became shorter, dates became duller and there’s this awkward silence whenever we stopped talking.
When I asked him, he said everything was fine and he didn’t see anything wrong with us. He brought his hands to my shoulders and held them firmly. Looking into my eyes, he said
‘I won’t let anything happen to us, I promise.’
I hope so…
***
‘Hey Theo, how are you with big presentations?’
Theo looked up and saw his colleague, Felix, who popped out from his cubicle, arms hanging on his side of the wall.
‘I’m quite ok with them.’
‘Ok? Pssh..Theo stop being modest will ya? You scored the company one of its biggest investors last month!’ Another piped up from the neighboring cubicle.
‘Exactly, which is why you’re perfect for this next deal.’
‘We were actually thinking about nominating you during the meeting later. How bout it?’
Sighing in defeat, Theo could only nod as his colleagues smile from ear to ear.
Another presentation…man…
‘So it’s settled then. Theo, you da man!’ Felix stretched and patted Eddie’s head, causing the others to laugh.
***
‘Ok, you’ve practiced this over and over. There’s nothing to worry about. Now it’s time for you to go out there and proof to those corporate workaholics how things are done and sign that contract!’
‘Theo, you’ve been saying that since breakfast. Don’t worry; this is a piece of cake for you, Ace Presenter. Haha!’
‘B..b..but..’
‘Come on man, you’re a natural speaker, you’re totally ready for this so stop worrying.’
‘Thanks guys, I just don’t want to fail…’
I couldn’t help but chant that mantra over and over. It might not be my first proposal presentation but it was definitely the biggest I’ve done. The scale of that deal was crazy huge. I was not at all worried about talking; but more worried about getting kicked out of the company if I failed the presentation. It’s tough getting a job with the economy in a slump.
***
‘Good morning, my name is Theodore I’m the representative for Ortsa Tech. And you must be the representative for Ynos.’ Theo held out his hand for a hand shake but the person instead apologized.
‘I’m sorry, I’m just the secretary, my boss is currently in the ladies. I hope you don’t mind waiting for a few minutes.’
‘That won’t be necessary, Claudia. I’m back.’
An icy aura surrounded the office as soon as the voice spoke, heels clicked as she made her way towards a very surprised Theo, with eyes wide open staring in disbelief.
Sergeant?!
‘Good morning, I’m Jessica Jung, representative of Ynos. I’m looking forward to see what Ortsa has to offer us.’
‘Of course, this will not be a waste of your time. Please take a seat and let us begin.’
***
If I wasn’t nervous before I sure was then. It was totally unexpected that our paths would cross like that, never in a million years. Didn’t it looked like it came out from a movie or drama on TV? How cliché.
During the presentation, I could feel her eyes boring holes into me and it definitely made things much more difficult but I kept my cool, or at least I hope I did. Other than the occasional blank faces I got and also some questions at the most random moments, I think it went pretty well. Hopefully well enough to seal this deal. I kept my fingers crossed.
‘With that, I would like to end this presentation. Thank you for your attention and I will take any questions now.’ I tried to sound as calm as possible; I never knew it would be so nerve wrecking presenting in front of an ex. Well, if she wasn’t so much of a sergeant, maybe I wouldn’t be.
‘Claudia, did you take down everything?’ she turned towards her secretary.
‘Yes, Miss Jung. Everything.’ Claudia closed her notebook and proceeded to tidy up their files.
She got up and left before her secretary could finish gathering everything. She was about to walk out the door when she turned around and said
‘A very interesting presentation indeed, Mr Theodore. Claudia, fix an appointment with him for the signing.’
‘Yes Miss Jung.’
With that she left the office.
‘Sir, which day..’
To go after her no not to?! which?! Which! Which! Theo pick!!
‘I’m sorry, here’s my card. Call me later.’ I left the business card on the table and rushed out.
Where is she? Man she walks really fast for somebody wearing really high heels!
‘Sica!’
***
I stopped in my tracks immediately when I heard that nickname.
‘Would you like to have dinner with me? You know, to talk and catch up and stuff’
He still had that silly smile on his face, the same as the one years ago, one which I had not seen for a very long time.
‘That would be nice.’ I could’ve sworn his silly smile just got wider.
‘Great! So I’ll pick you up at 7?’
‘Sure.’ I turned around, ready to go
‘Wait! Where do I pick you up?’
‘Claudia will tell you. I’ll see you at 7.’ A wink; and I was on my way.
***
Where is he? Did Claudia give him the wrong address?
The auburn haired girl stood by her front door waiting for her date to arrive. Glancing at her watch every now and then, she tapped her foot impatiently as she waited, but she couldn’t help but feel a bit worried that her date is late.
Ok, calm down. He’s late. So what? Calm down. It’s only been 10minutes. You’re not going to get stood up.
Her expression brightens when she saw a car stopped in front of her gate and Theo getting out of the car in a hurry.
‘I’m so sorry I’m late! I got lost.’ he sounded so frantic.
‘It’s alright, so shall we get going?’
‘Yea totally!’
***
A feminine laughter could be heard as she laughed at the silly stories her date was telling her over dinner.
‘Get out! Ryan is with who now?!’
‘Sandy, I’m serious! Who would’ve thought those two would get together.’
‘How did he confess? In a pink Teletubby suit?’
‘Please don’t remind me of that suit. It was so embarrassing.’ Theo covered his face when reminded of that stupid plan.
‘But it was cute. Or at least, you made it look cute.’
Theo chocked on his drink and a shade of crimson blasted through his cheeks.
‘Hahaha you haven’t changed a bit.’ She handed him a napkin which he gratefully accepted.

Thanks to the project the two companies were taking up, I got to meet with Jessica more often. To be honest, I didn’t even know that we were in the same city. We never bumped into each other before on the streets. Weird…
So anyway, the two of us were discussing the progress made so far in the project. Oh, and if you’re wondering how on earth did I got put in-charge of this, you can ask Felix. He was the one that talked to our boss about it.
Back to the topic, everything was going well until this guy decided to interrupt.
Ddok ddok ddok
Our heads turned to the door and saw a guy standing at the door, a smile plastered across his face.
‘Who are…’
‘Ivan!’ Jessica got up from her seat and greeted him. Who in the world is he?!
‘What are you doing here? I thought you had a meeting?’ I swear I could hear a tinge of disappointment in her voice, we’re supposed to go for lunch later after this.
‘It finished early so I thought I’d drop by and take you out for lunch. What do ya say?’
‘Er…’ she turned towards me
‘Oh, Ivan, this is Theo, Otrsa’s representative and also my best friend. Theo, this is Ivan, my…’
‘fiance.’
***
Fiancé..
The word repeated in his mind like a broken record for weeks. Theo knew that it was purposely directed towards him because Ivan had snaked an arm around Jessica’s waist, pulling her closer to him.
Letting out an annoyed puff, he sat on the couch, ready to watch some movies before a text came.
From: Sergeant Sica
Wanna grab lunch?
He scoffed at the message and replied
From: Theo
What bout Ivan?
Jessica felt a bit hurt by his reply but she is a persistent lady.
From: Sergeant Sica
Is that a yes?
Theo sighed at her reply.
From: Theo
Sure, same time? At that café in the mall?
From: Sergeant Sica
Meet you there =]
***
Lunch went by smoothly; the two talked and laughed like before, swapped stories of their office happenings and also gossiped about their ex-classmates. Ever since the project ended last month, they’ve made it a point to at least catch up over a meal every once in a while. However, the topic of Ivan and engagement never seemed to pop up.
‘Hey, I need to stop by the bookstore for a bit.’
‘Oh?’
‘The book I pre-ordered came in this morning.’
‘Your love for books never fades I see’ unlike ours..Jessica sighed inwardly at her thought, still managed to keep a smiling face up front.
‘haha yea, plus it’s my fav author’s new work! Gotta get a copy!’ Theo said enthusiastically as he grabbed her arm and pulled her into the bookstore.
‘Here’s your order, sir. Please sign at the form to confirm that you have already taken your copy.’ The cashier handed Theo a pen and some papers. After placing his signature, he beamed and went to look for Jessica who went wondering about in the store.
‘What cha looking at?’ he placed his hands on her shoulders and peered from behind.
Jessica jumped when she realised how close they were, causing him to burst into laughter.
‘HAHAHAHA!!!’
‘Shut up, Theo!!’ she slapped his arm.
‘tsk tsk tsk, such a sergeant. Wonder what Ivan sees in you? Hahaha!’
‘You can ask yourself the same question!’ she stormed out of the store.
‘Sica!’
***
‘Oh come on, forgive me!’ Theo was making all sorts of faces to make her laugh but none is working so far. From an onlooker’s view, it’s hard to believe the two of them are already in their mid twenties.
‘No, get lost. I’m going home.’ She ignored him and walked away.
Theo shook his head and sighed. Still so childish.
‘I’ll treat you to ice-cream, your favourite Shooting Star sundae.’
‘You think ice-cream is going to make me forgive you? I’m not 10 anymore, you know.’
‘I know, but I’m still going for ice-cream. Care to join me?’ Theo flashed her a toothy grin and moved his brows up and down.
After hesitating, Jessica agreed.
***
‘How’s the ice-cream?’
‘You’re lucky I still like this flavor a lot.’
‘Apology accepted?’
‘Yes, but it’s not because of the ice-cream.’
‘Right…haha’
‘So what’s that book you got?’ she asked as she curiously looked at the book in the bag.
‘Pieces by J Step’ Theo handed her the book.
‘You read her work?’
‘Yea, I read her work. Wait! It’s a her?’
‘Can’t you tell?’ somehow Jessica’s tone sounded a bit disappointed.
‘I can’t differentiate a guy’s writing from a girl’s.’
‘And that’s how we got punished from Ms Tate back in the 5th grade. You said she wouldn’t notice the difference between your writing and mine.’
‘There was no difference! Our hand writing were almost the same and I tell you, that lady has something against me.’
‘Right..so there was no difference between your writing and mine.
‘Exactly!’
‘Anyway, why do you find Step’s writing so nice that you’re a fan of her collection? Honestly, I think her work is junk.’
‘Don’t know and it’s not nice calling other people’s work junk.’ Theo proceeded into taking his book back.
‘I mean let’s get real, why do you think she uses a penname instead of her real name?’
Theo shrugged at her question.
‘It’s cause she doesn’t want anybody to know who she is if the book flopped.’
‘How would you know?’ Theo starred at her quizzically.
‘I just do.’ She turned her attention back to her ice-cream.

Incoming call: Ivan
Jessica looked at her phone and hesitated as to take the call. She excused herself from Theo and answered it anyway.
“Hello?”
“Hey Jess, where are you? You’re not at home.”
“Oh, I’m out with a friend.”
“Friend? That guy from the office the other day?”
“Yes, and his name is Theo.”
“*sigh* Jess, I don’t like the idea of you two hanging out so often.”
Jessica scoffed in disbelieve. She didn’t like people telling what to do and what not to.
“Oh, and why is that?”
Theo watched as Jessica paced back and forth outside the ice-cream shop. He could roughly guess who was on the line. The only time she did that was either her mother was calling or this time, Ivan.
Jessica entered after ten minutes. She set down with a sigh and quickly shoved her half melted ice-cream into her mouth.
‘Mother?’
‘Worst..Ivan..’
Theo laughed at her respond. Why did she have to make it sound so cursed that he called? Haha!
‘He doesn’t like it that we’re spending a lot of time together on weekends’
‘Oh?’
‘Yea, he told me to go home just now. The nerve he has! If our parents weren’t good friends, I would’ve never agreed to this engagement.’ She took off her ring and placed it on the table.
‘Jessica, put it back on. Before you lose it.’ Theo took the ring and slipped it onto her ring finger.
‘Like I care. Seriously, the nerves. I told him, if he wants me home so badly, come get me.’
‘Is he coming?’
‘Don’t know, I hung up before he answered.’
‘The two of you were arranged?’ Theo wanted to take a chance at the question, wanting to cure his curiosity.
‘Yes, because mom thinks I’m going to end up as a single old lady with tones of cats in an apartment. So she and dad arranged a meeting with one of their friends. Pssh..I bet Krystal gave her that idea.’
‘Tones of cats? Hahaha! You hate cats. You practically kicked every cat you saw back in school.’
‘I know right? ridiculous.’ Jessica ate the last of her melted ice-cream.
‘So why did you agree?’
‘Well, because he seemed nice and our parents had this big meeting dinner and everything.’
But…
‘He’s nice and all but he has issues.’
‘Issues?’
‘He has pride and jealousy issues.’ Jessica shook her head as she said.
Theo’s mouth formed an O and nodded.
‘Are you two living together?’
‘Hell no! I need my own space. Having him in the same room is already suffocating enough. I don’t need him in the same house.’
‘Ok, cool down, cool down. Do you want some more ice-cream?’
‘No thanks, I just need to blow off some steam.’ She stood up ‘be right back. ladies.’
A few seconds after Jessica left the shop, Ivan came in, panting. As soon as he regained his composure, he spotted Theo sitting there and went to him.
‘Where is she?’
‘Who?’
‘Don’t play dumb. Where’s Jessica?’
‘Ladies.’
‘We need to talk.’ Ivan sat down at Jessica’s seat.
‘I don’t like the idea of the two of you hanging out so often.’
‘We’re just catching up with each other, what’s it to you?’
‘Once in a while its fine, but every weekend? I’ve made plans for us during weekends and because of you, I have to cancel them.’
So this is what she meant by issues. Seriously, what’s it to him? We’re just talking over a meal.
‘Well, I’m sorry for you. Yo..’
‘Ivan! What are you doing here?!!!’
Ivan stood up and held her by the arm.
‘Let’s go. We have a schedule later, if you haven’t forgotten.’
‘It’s just the fitting, we can reschedule. And let go, you’re hurting me.’ She tried to release herself from him but his grip was firm.
‘I believe she said to let her go.’ Theo finally spoke up and released Jessica from Ivan’s grip.
‘You, I don’t like you.’
‘The feeling is mutual.’
‘Enough! Ivan, leave.’ Jessica pointed towards the exit.
‘Not without you, you need to be fitted for the wedding.’
Theo didn’t want to make a scene, knowing Jessica very well and her signature stubbornness, if he didn’t do something, it would be a pretty big scene. Besides, other customers in the shop are already whispering about them.
‘Sica, cool down. Go to the fitting, ok? We’ll talk another time.’
‘But..’
‘Go, others are looking already. Let’s not make a scene.’ Jessica surveyed the shop with the corner of her eyes and nodded. Then she turned to Ivan.
‘Fine, let’s go.’ she grabbed her purse and walked out, with Ivan following soon after.
Theo gathered his belongings and went to pay, and then left.
***
“Ugh, mom I don’t understand why he had to do that! It was embarrassing!”
Jessica was complaining to her mother about the incident earlier at the mall.
“Now, now honey. You should understand. He’s afraid that he’ll lose you to Theo.”
“That’s another problem about him, mom. His self confidence is…ugh!!”
“Then why’d you agree in the first place?”
‘Krystal, pass the phone back to mom now! N.O.W. NOW!” Jessica commanded through the phone once she heard her younger sister’s voice.
“Honey, be nice to your sister.”
“She’s not my sister, we’re just unfortunately blood related”
“Hey!! I heard that!!” Jessica could hear Krystal shouting.
“Enough you two. Now honey, I’m sure Ivan had his reasons. And you were being stubborn as well.”
“sure he does…and i was not being stubborn!” Jessica rolled her eyes. What could his reasons be other than jealousy?
“So do you have the guest list ready?”
“Yes mom, I finished it last night.” Jessica picked up a piece of paper from her dressing table and looked at the new entry at the bottom.
“I’ll email it to you later.”
“Ok honey, oh and you should probably apologise to Ivan.”
“For what and what for?!” Jessica was shocked to hear her mother say that.
“For the way you behaved this afternoon. Jess, I know Theo is important to you but you have to remember that you two are just friends while you are engaged to Ivan.”
“*sigh* gotcha.”
“Ok, Jess. Good night.”
Her mother hung up. Jessica collapse onto her bed and brought her phone up to her face and typed a message. Sent.
From: Jess
Sorry about the way I acted this afternoon.
Ivan smiled and replied.
From: Ivan
It’s ok. It was partly my fault too.
Jessica rolled her eyes at the reply and threw her phone on the foot of her bed and adjusted herself into a comfortable position and tried to go to sleep.
***
Ugh, can’t sleep.
A figure sat up from the bed and looked at the clock.
2.30a.m. you have got to be kidding me.
Letting out a frustrating grunt, the figure walked out of the bedroom to the room next door. It was a reading room, fully stocked book shelves filled 3 out of 4 walls and there was a rack of CDs at a corner, complete with speakers, stereo, audio mixer. You name it, it was there. At the center of the room was a couch for one and a table. Heights perfect for doing work.
The figure turned on the lights and went towards the table and opened the laptop. Jessica sat down while ruffling her hair and using her free hand to guide the cursor to a folder named “Incomplete” click.
She squinted her eyes at the screen but soon dimmed the brightness of the screen. She cracked her knuckles and got down to business. Click. A file opened and she began typing.
I have to stop these midnight sessions. Not good for the eye bags.
***
Jessica jumped as the backup alarm in the study room started ringing. With her irregular midnight visits to the reading room, she had decided to set alarms at two places, each set to ring 15 minutes apart; one in her bedroom, the other in the reading room.
What day is today? Oh..Monday.
After doing some stretching that could be mistaken for tai chi, she got up and got ready for work.
***
“Ms Jung, the editor is on line 2.”
“Thank you Claudia.”
“Good morning, Jessica.”
“Good morning, Wayne. How is the sales going?”
“It’s not bad; a few stores in the city are already sold out.” Jessica’s lips curved upwards upon hearing the news.
“I still think that work is junk, why did you publish it anyway?”
“Because, my dear Jessica, it’s different from your other works.”
“mm hmm…what if it flopped?” Jessica took a sip of her caramel coffee.
“It won’t. Plus, we have readers emailing us about the book though they’re not finished yet.”
“You don’t say”
“Yup, so I was wondering if you already have a new one started.”
“I have a rough idea of the plot, not going to start on it anytime soon.”
“ah..I understand, Ms Career Woman. Work comes first, then only hobbies, no?” the editor chuckled on the other line.
“Glad you do, Wayne.”
“Alright, I won’t bother you further. Good day.” and the line went dead.

Hey, wanna grab lunch?
From: Sergeant Sica
Can’t =[ having lunch with my mom and Krys.
From: Theo
Aw..ok =] another day.
From: Sergeant Sica
=] another day it is
***
‘So mom, why the sudden lunch?’
‘It’s been a while since the 3 of us had a meal together so I thought why not. Besides, Krystal has something she wants to ask you.’
‘What is it, monkey?’
‘I will ignore that for now. So, after you’re married and moved out, can I have your room? Like permanently?’ Krystal asked as sincerely as possible, eyes blinking, filled with hopes.
‘Not in a million years, Krys.’ Jessica replied flatly.
‘Mom…’ Krystal started to whine
‘You and I both know that your sister would say that.’
‘Hey Jess, where are you going to go for your honeymoon?’
‘I think it’s still early to think about that now, Krys.’
‘Early? Your wedding is in like what, 3weeks!’ Krystal pointed 3fingers at her sister.
‘Yea, 3weeks, you don’t have to remind me.’
‘You know, for somebody who’s getting married, you’re not really excited.’
‘What’s the point? It’s only a ceremony.’ Plus, I’m not even marrying someone I love.
‘ooo, somebody having second thoughts?’ Krystal started to tease.
‘Krys, stop it. Don’t put any silly ideas into your sister’s head.’ Mrs Jung scolded her youngest daughter.
Mom, you have no idea what sort of ideas are already in my head right now.
‘Have you mailed the invitation letters?’
‘Yes, mom. I mailed them 2weeks ago. Stop worrying.’
‘At least mom worries, unlike you. You don’t even care.’
‘Krystal, that’s enough. Finish you meal.’ Krystal finally kept quiet and ate for once during that lunch.
Jessica, on the other hand, merely sipped her drink and started spacing out, that is, until her mother started to nag her again.
‘Jess, why aren’t you a bit nervous about your wedding?’
‘Don’t know; but don’t worry, I won’t do anything stupid. I’m not Krystal.’ You seriously cannot expect me to be happy about this?
‘Hey! I’m right here you know.’ Jessica ignored her sister and ruffled her hair.
‘You’re messing up my hair!’
Mrs Jung shook her head at the sight of her two daughters. It’s hard to believe that the oldest is getting married in a few weeks with that behavior.
‘You two are embarrassing me. Stop it.’
‘Sorry mom.’ The sisters said in unison.

Theo was staring at an envelope Jessica had passed to him during lunch just now.
Open it when you reach home, ok?
Theo ripped off the cover and pulled out a card.
‘To, Theo: You are cordially invited to attend blah blah blah..’ Theo roughly skimmed through the card and it turned out to be an invitation to Jessica’s wedding next week.
Invitation ey?
Theo turned the card around and on the backside was a picture of the bride and groom together with a map, showing the location of the church and the hotel where the reception would be held. At the bottom of the card was a RSVP.
I’m not going.
Riing riing riing
“hello?”
“yo man! How’ve you been!” the caller greeted enthusiastically.
“yo man, who are you?”
“I can’t believe you don’t remember me, you oversized Telletubby.”
Theo’s eyes widen as he heard that and instantly remembered.
“RYAN! Never call me that again!”
“hahahahah!!!! So did you get an invitation to Jessica’s wedding?”
“Yea, I got it. but I don’t think I’m going though.” Theo threw the card onto the coffee table and sat on the couch. This conversation is going to take a while.
“Why not? Too painful to watch the love of your life walk down the aisle into someone else’s arms?” Ryan teased.
“I am over her, ok. I’m just not in the mood for a wedding.”
“Aw..Theo, please go. Take it as a reunion among ex-classmates.” A female voice took over.
“Sandy? I don’t know, still haven’t called to confirm yet. I only got the invitation today.”
“oh? We got ours’ last week. Did yours get lost in the mail?”
“no, she gave it to me a few hours ago.”
“ooo personal delivery..kekeke” Sandy chuckled on the other line. “you know, you can always crash the wedding like in the movies and take her away with you to some place.”
“yea what she said” Ryan continued.
“you two will never change. I’m not going to be a wedding crasher. It’s wrong.”
“We know, but how other way are you going to get her back?”
“Who said anything about wanting to get her back?!” Theo was bewildered as to how his friends arrived at that conclusion.
“Let’s see, there was that time..”
“ok ok I get the point.”
“so are you going, Theo?” Sandy asked.
“I’ll think about it.”
“k, hope to see you there buddy! See ya”
“see ya..” Theo hung up with a sigh.
Theo spent the next couple of days thinking on attending her wedding. Obviously he didn’t want to go. Ryan might be joking but he was spot on when he said Theo didn’t want to see Jessica walk down the aisle into another man’s arms.
From: Sergeant Sica
Hey, up for dinner? =]
From: Theo
Love to ^^
***
‘So, do you have any plans for your honeymoon?’ Theo was running out of topics to talk about during dinner, and an awkward silence was slowly blanketing them.
‘Krystal has been bugging me bout this too. Where would you go for a honeymoon?’
Theo leaned back and thought for a while before answering.
‘I would go to…’ Theo was squeezing his brain for a destination
‘to???’
‘Europe?’
‘I’ve thought about that..’ Jessica trailed off..
‘but..’
‘Just not with him.’
The topic ended there because it was starting to get awkward again.
Man, since when were our meals so awkward! The two thought.
***
Afterwards, the two opt to go for a walk downtown.
‘I can’t believe I’m getting married the day after tomorrow.’
‘I can’t believe it either.’
Jessica threw him a glare ‘what does that suppose to mean?’
‘I can believe you’re getting married either.’
Jessica shook her head and continued walking.
Now or never.
‘Sica’ Theo grabbed hold of her wrist, causing her to jerk backwards.
‘yes?’
‘Let’s get out of here, go to another place.’
‘You’re hungry again? we just ate.’
‘No I mean, you, me, airport, out of the country. You know, runaway.’
Jessica let out a heavy sigh, she knew what was he trying to imply. Eloping, of course she had thought about it.
Slowly she shook her head ‘No, I can’t.’
‘Why not?! It’s obvious that you don’t want to marry him. Come with me, we’ll start from here again.’
‘No.’ Jessica released herself from his grip but he held her again right after.
‘Why?! Give me a good reason.’
‘You deserve better. I don’t deserve you. After what I’ve done..’
‘I don’t care about the past, Jessica. I care about the present and the future. I care about you.’
‘Theo…’
‘I know you well enough to know that you have not moved on. Because I haven’t either.’
‘Theo, don’t make this harder than it already is.’ Tears were forming
‘Sica..’
‘Let me go, Theo. WE. CANNOT. BE..’ With that, she turned around and left him on the street before he could see her tears fall.
***
Door locked, windows shut and curtains drawn, a girl could be seen sitting on her bed, hugging her legs, face buried between her knees. Her phone had been ringing but she didn’t bother about it.
This is Jessica; I’m busy at the moment. Please leave a message after the beep and I’ll get back with you a.s.a.p.*beep*
Jessica, this is your mother speaking. Why aren’t you answering your phone? This has to be like, the 10th time I’m calling already. Did something happen? Ok, you know what I’m going over to your place now.
Jessica sat and cried in silence. You idiot, why did you run away?!!
Meanwhile, Theo was wondering aimlessly around town, with a beer bottle in hand, he was drunk. He wondered until he reached a park and collapsed right next to a bench, startling the people sitting there.
‘Yo, man, you ok?’ the guy poked Theo’s shoulders and he flipped himself to face up.
‘Theo?!! WTH man!’ he turned out to be Ryan.
‘you reek of alcohol.’ He quickly helped Theo up and placed him on the bench.
‘My goodness, Theo!’
Theo was mumbling something but Sandy and Ryan couldn’t understand a thing. They only heard a few words like left and meaningless.
‘Whatever happened to you, it must’ve been pretty bad.’ The two helped carry him back to their hotel room.
***
‘Jessica, as your mother, I demand that you open this door immediately!’ Mrs Jung knocked on the bedroom door.
‘Jessi, please open the door.’ A good friend of Jessica’s, Tiffany, called too. Mrs Jung had asked for her help in getting her stubborn daughter out of her room.
‘Mrs Jung, didn’t Jessica give you the keys?’
‘Only for the front door, Tiffany.’
‘Oh..Jessi, open the door. What’s going on?’
‘Let’s just wait out here until she cools down.’
‘Alright.’
***
Ryan threw Theo onto the bed and sat down beside him while Sandy was in the bathroom, soaking a towel in warm water.
‘What happened to you?’
***
Present day
‘Are you sure about this man?’
A suitcase slammed shut as the owner carried it and walked towards the waiting taxi at the gate.
‘Positive.’ Was all that he said before he shut the door.
***
A young man took his seat on the plane and took out his book by his favourite author and began reading. He occasionally glanced out the window, looking at the scenery of his homeland for the last time before the plane took off to a foreign country.
I hope you have a happy life.
The young man chuckled bitterly as he knew he would not be seeing the one person he loved again. As much as he wanted to, he knew he couldn’t because she was already promised to another. When he received her wedding invitation, he went after much persuasion from his friends and family. He couldn’t bear looking at her marrying another and so left early.
He shifted his gaze back to his open book and continued reading. All was peaceful until his book was forcefully removed from his grip. The young man quickly turned towards the rude figure standing beside him, holding up the book to cover her face.
With a huff of annoyance, the young man was about to question her but she spoke first
‘I don’t understand why people are actually reading this junk’
Recognizing the voice, a small smile crept up his face.
‘It’s not nice calling your own work junk, Ms Author.’
‘It’s not?’ the book was removed, revealing a smiling Jessica
‘But it is junk though, I don’t like this story.’ She closed the book and returned it to him, taking the vacant seat beside his.
‘Didn’t think I would come, did ya?’ she leaned towards him and asked, smirking.
‘What about him?’
*We are about to take off, please fasten your seat belts immediately, thank you*
Jessica sat up straight and fastened her seat belt, the young man looking at her quizzically.
‘He let me go. It was about time he did.’ she stated as-a-matter-of-factly.
‘I’m glad he did.’
Lips met, not caring of the other staring passengers.
The plane took off, to their new beginning.
End.
A/N:
This ending is..ok I admit, there are some reference to My Princess but I couldn’t help it, that drama was just too cute! Haha the best part was still Kim TaeHee’s Hoot dance kekeke
And also another note, I just couldn’t get this out of my head so I opt to finish this first before my exams starts. Haha! I think this has to be the longest post I’ve ever posted here in my blog.
I thank you all for our kind patience in reading this crap-tastic story, which turned out to be more Jessica centric than I have initially planned. Aish I love that girl too much. (LOL!!!!)
This is actually 7 chapters but I took out all the chapter titles because, well, I just felt like doing so. haha! Please comment =] I’ll be back after my exams.
This is like almost 20pages on Word. haha if you want the file, i'll be more than happy to send it to you. =] but for now, Annyong! *does ITNW dance*
