Value

In life we may cherish many things; memories, people and even our furry little pets. The things that we cherish are the ones which are valuable to us. However, out of all the things in the world, may it be material or not, the most important thing is friendship.

Good friends are hard to come by, most of which are from our childhood. Usually, the best of friends are made when we are younger. We grow up together, through thick and thin. Good friends like these will not backstab us because of the history that is behind us. Unlike new acquaintances, we know them well enough that they won’t betray us. Things aren’t as easy with new acquaintances. They might be acting in front of us and we might be easily fooled because we don’t know their true character. A good friendship will not cause betrayal.

Friends are always there to help us when we are in trouble. They are there to lend us their ears whenever we have issues to grumble about. They are also willing to lend a shoulder to lean or to cry on when we need one. We tend to tell our friends our problems because we trust them more than our family members. It is also less awkward to tell your friends your personal problems than it is to tell you family. Friends are always there to help.

Having friends also act like a pillar of strength for us. This is because friends can give us support in a way that family members cannot as we are around them most of the time. For instance, if a student is studying in a faraway place, she would need the support of her friends in order to overcome loneliness and homesickness. If not, she might fall into depression and this might lead to other dreadful happenings. To prevent all these from happening, it is best to have support from friends.

Moreover, friends can also act as a stress reliever, one way or another. Some friends who are cheery and joyous can tell silly jokes and funny stories to help brighten up our day. Laughing it out once in a while is good for relieving stress that has built up in time. Sometimes, even pictures or photographs of our friends in funny pose are laughable once we recall what had happened in that point of time.

In conclusion, friendship is the most important thing in our lives. Friends are there to help and to support us when family cannot. Be grateful to have friends and always cherish friendship.
