What If - Prolouge

pardon any errors and enjoy =]

***

Door locked, windows shut and curtains drawn, a girl could be seen sitting on her bed, hugging her legs, face buried between her knees.

Knocks could be heard together with worried voices of the people who cared about her, persuading her to come out from her self-imposed solitary confinement in the bed room.

She didn’t want to, she wanted to stay locked up in her room forever if she could. But she knew it was impossible. That faithful day was drawing closer and there was nothing that she could do to stop it from happening.

What’s done was done.

Time could not be reversed; broken hearts could not be mended.

The choice was made, there’s no way of turning back.

Or is there?

What if

A/N: tada~the prologue is here. Miss Procrastinator Productions present to you a short story of roughly less than 10chapters (most likely going to be around 5-6) titled What If. LOL please excuse this totally nonsensical note, haha. I'm trying to destress after a bad first half of the day. Oh btw, you can dismiss chapter 1 since its the one I've already posted here so stay tuned for chapter 2 haha but i did make some minor changes, mostly on grammar. haha please comment! so that i can improve =]

Chapter 1: Choices

A girl with auburn hair sat in front of a mirror, starring at her reflection whilst others were busy preparing for an event behind her. She saw everything through the mirror, for she was getting her hair and make-up done, she couldn’t turn around. A faint smile could be seen as she sat there observing the rest.

‘Girl, you need to stop smiling or else I can’t get the make-up done properly’ the make-up artist told her.

‘Sorry..’ she smiled apologetically at her

‘Is everything ready and good to go? How about the catering? Pianist? Receptionists?’

‘Dude, you need to calm down.’

‘WHERE IS SHE?!’ the groom asked, his voice filled with worry.

‘She’s in the room, getting ready. Don’t worry.’

The frantic groom finally managed to calm down, a little, and sat down on one of the pews.

‘I’m really nervous you know..’ he trailed off.

‘I can see that. Don’t worry about a thing. The caterer is currently setting up the food back at your place, as for the pianist, your cousin is playing remember? And the receptionists are already at the front table.’ His friend pointed at the front table where two people could be seen going through the guest lists.

‘You’re right, there’s nothing to worry about.’ The groom took a deep breath and exhaled to regain his composure.

***

‘Oh my gosh! Jessi, you look absolutely gorgeous!’ one of her friends squealed as she stepped out after changing.

Heads nodded as the bride stood before them after finishing everything.

‘Guys, I’m nervous…’

‘Don’t worry, everything will be alright.

‘Is this the right choice?’

‘Girl, do not think about stuff like that now, ok?!’ her friend snapped at her, taking her by surprise.

***

‘We’re all gathered here today to witness the…’

Gosh, can this be any more boring? Who knew standing at the altar can be such a bore.

I didn’t really hear anything the priest said during the ceremony, I was too busy keeping myself awake by looking at the crowd.

Well, mom and dad look happy, so does Krystal. Well duh, she’s going to get a brother-in-law to spoil her, of course she would be happy.

I looked further back of the hall. Then I saw my group of friends waving at me, smiling from ear to ear.

There they are, as crazy and hyper as ever.

‘…be together through…’

When will this end?!

I looked until I saw a familiar face and I felt my whole body froze.

Why is that person here?!

I saw an old friend, well, more like a, erm…, it’s a bit difficult to describe what he is to me. We were best friends turned lovers during high school. So does that make him my high school sweetheart? But due to some circumstances, we parted.

I continued looking at him before our eyes met all of a sudden. His brown eyes were still as warm as I remembered them to be. He was just sitting here, looking rather hurt, and then he stood up and left.

Why is he doing this to me?!

My face must have looked troubled, because my soon-to-be husband leaned towards me and whispered

‘Are you ok? We’re about to say I do.’

I really don’t know.

I turned towards the door and saw him leaving. His back looked so lonely and full of regrets.

‘..do you take her as your wife?’

o.m.g.

‘Yes, I do.’ he said with a smile

‘Then do you take him as your husband?’ the priest turned to me and said.

What do I do?!!!! I..

I swallowed a lump in my throat, and got ready to say something which I hope I will not regret.

‘I’m sorry, I…I just don’t see this happening. I’m sorry.’

I did not just do that!

Having said that, I turned to my heels and left the altar, leaving the groom and everybody else in the hall dumbfounded.

As I ran down the aisle, Krystal grabbed my arm

‘What are you doing?’

‘Something which I hope I don’t regret.’

She looked at me and nodded before letting me go.

I opened the door, stepping out to find the man that I foolishly left.

Tbc.
