I had a family gathering last weekend, as stated in the previous post, and my aunts have already started to ask me questions regarding my working plans. That’s right, working plans. Goodness I’m only in my first year now and they’ve already started with the questions on where I want to work when I graduate.
These sorts of questions are common in my family, since I think I can consider my family to be quite smart and everybody older than I am has excelled in their studies/careers etc. So it is quite normal for my aunts and older cousins to be asking me this kind of questions.
When I was 15, they asked whether I was going to take up Science or Arts, I told them Science. When I was 16, they asked whether I would pursue a career in Science or Arts, I answered Science. Later that year they asked me where I was going to further my studies, I answered Taylor’s. When I was 17 they asked me the same question again, which field of career am I going to take up when I’m in university, that time, I answered Accountancy.
Of course the question following that would be why did I change my mind about my ambition, because I was really enthusiastic about doing engineering the year before. I told them that I have realized that there are some dreams which are best be left as dreams and they understood and supported my new ambition because I have a lot of relatives who are accountants and are doing really well in their careers (I have 2cousin brothers, 1cousin sister-in-law, 2aunts and 1 uncle who are accountants).
So naturally the next question to follow would be where would I plan to work after graduation. since my aunt is working I Singapore, my mom told me to go talk to her about working life there etc. she told me that it is best for me to get at least a few years of experience before going there. I think Singapore isn’t really that big on accepting fresh graduates. Another aunt of mine asked if I am going over to Singapore to work and I answered what another aunt told me earlier and she agreed saying her son worked in Penang for about 3years before going to Singapore to work.
She also told me that her son’s job is good, allowing him to fly all over the globe (business/first class) and if next time when I graduate and he’s still in that company, she would ask him to recommend me. Goodness I don’t think I would want that. I think my cousin brother is a really good worker and I don’t want to have the pressure of being known as his younger cousin. It would be like in secondary school all over again where I was known as the teacher’s daughter and was forced to behave properly.
So will I go over to Singapore? I’m not sure. but it sure is fun to think about it. haha

Working in Singapore sounds fun. Well-organized and a lot of places to visit. and the best is about the safety there. If u are going there to work in the future and migrating there remember to leave some space for us to stay when we visit you. But one thing..life is stressful over there. Good luck! =)
